Linda Valencia is a GP graduated from the San Carlos University of Guatemala in 1998. She then specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the same university and in the General Hospital of San Juan de Dios.
While being Chief of Residents in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department, Linda was invited to train as an Quality Evaluator in Maternal Infant Care and was certified by JHPIEGO Corporation, affiliated with Johns Hopkins University. There she learned about Guatemala’s painful reality, its very high maternal and infant mortality rate and the deficiencies in the public health system in its reduction.
Ever since, Linda has been passionate about reducing the maternal mortality rate in Guatemala and starts a professional career in Public Health and Human Rights. Currently, Linda provides health care as a Gynecologist and Obstetrician, is an international consultant in Human Rights and Health, a true believer in natural birth and dreams
